I want to use rory's cubes or tangent zero dice to decide outcomes based on a heroes score.


I want to use rory's cubes or tangent zero dice to decide outcomes based on a heroes score.

How is 'victory' decided in images? How is 6 better than 1 in that scenario, if the system only uses icon dice?

Ie: Murk has a Battle score of 4, if he rolls those four dice and gets the pictures below- is that good or bad?

  3. But okay. For Murk to succeed in battle he can't roll more than four objects that are larger than human sized.

  5. Paul Czege I am going to assume a 4 means better, wouldn't having four dice make it harder to achieve that goal?  Assume all dice have 1 icon larger than human, then the prob of all four not having the icon larger than the human is 0.48, but for only two die it is 0.69.

  6. I was suggesting roll a standard number of dice. Maybe a whole Rory's set of nine. And then the higher your stat the more that you can roll outside your qualitative state (living things, large things, whatever).

What if victory is assumed, and the number of dice and icons represent the scope of the victory.  So taking one die, such as the clock, means you overcame the problem, but it took forever (one hit point at a time), whereas taking in all four means flair and fashion, such as time freezes between you and the enemy, where a giant pyramid comes down from the sky and releases a swarm of scarabs that consumes your foe.

  9. But I don't like assuming victory.  I have to think more.  I do like Paul Czege 's idea of setting a condition to beat.  It would be great to choose the condition based on the task: fighting something big, roll at least three big things.  Climbing a wall, roll at least three actions.

  10. I like that, a character does more with more images, but how does failure occur? Do we have a CRIT on images?

  12. Ok so Murk gets a 3 on numbers using a d6, how is that related to good, or bad?

    Another thought is the Best template I know is S. John Ross's Risus- So one would imagine cliches not as words but images. So where do I go from there?

    FLIPPED: like the Tarot, if images flipped bad! More images decreases the chance of something negative coming up!

  14. It depends on Murk's ability to integrate those images in his action/dialogue. He gets 4 points for his stats but can gain bonus points for every icon he uses in his attack.
    "Okay, this is going to require split seconding timing(plunks down the clock die.) I charge the ogre and at the last second I slide under its legs scattering caltrops (adds the pyramid die) and painful smacking the monster in the knee with my staff (adds the wand and stars), as I continue my slide, bits of the ogre lair detritus: bones, beetles, and filthy straw go flying (adds the scarab die.) That gives me a total of 8 points for the attack."
