I managed to run an entire adventure, so now, of course, my opinions matters.

  1. One I thing I wanted to comment on when reading your posts, and this is a matter of style so no right or wrong, but I've found...

Ask a question, and then don't ask another one right away. Move the story a bit. The more context you have, the more natural this is, but I found the more I was "gaming" the emulator the less fun I was having.

Can't wait to see more of your posts!

  2. I think you'll like UNE. I was going to recommend it to you. It handles NPC's very much like Mythic (which I like, as they complement each other well), but with a ever-so-slightly different FEEL.

  3. Great stuff! I've toyed with solitaire RPGs and just recently started a HQG with my wife, being run by Mythic and a mixture of other tools. As you said, I've found having an established setting really helps -- I'm playing in Glorantha, and have a TON of material at my fingertips which lets us focus on the plot instead of dreaming up the setting. Great post! I hope to replace Mythic with the GameMaster's Apprentice deck.

  4. I was also going to recommend UNE. I use it so often I made an excel spreadsheet that randomly generates all the conversation rolls, and puts them into a form I can just cut-and-paste into my solo play reports.

I also lean pretty heavily on the Mythic oracle at times. I think my record is 11 questions in a row without pausing. But then sometimes I know the answer without any questions at all. I think everyone settles into their own rhythm after a while.

    Great write-ups, by the way.
