Does anyone have a write up of a Powered by the Apocalypse solo game? I've been reading through Dungeon World and thinking the basic move+resolution convention would work marvelously for a solo. The three results from any action are, essentially, 1. Fail and suffer 2. Succeed, but... 3. Succeed and describe.

I haven't found an inspiration system which really works for me, but I may tackle this myself.

Thoughts?

  1. I have a solo write up of Titan World (Attack on Titan + Apocalypse World) here: https://solorpgvoyages.wordpress.com/2015/03/02/greek-titan-world/

And I'm currently writing up another PBTA game called Night Witches, a game where you play as Russian women who harass the Germans with their outdated airplanes during WWII.

  2. Night Witches sounds interesting. Are you posting your progress at the AW forums?

The one thing I keep missing in all of your actual-play posts is an overview of how well you think everything seemed to work, or how well the generator works with the engine, or whatever. Did you think PbtA engine enhances or detracts from the use of the generator, considering it performs a similar function, though to a lesser degree?

  3. The PbtA Engine seems to work fluidly with the Emulator and any Driver/Inspirators I have in use. Probably due to its simplistic nature.

As with posting the progress on the AW forums, no, I have not.

  4. Indeed, PBTA or any other light weight system tends to do solo well.

  5. Dunno much about other systems. Most of my solos have been published T&T products. But they work and are entertaining and, indeed, the lightweight T&T system works marvelously for solo play.
