Random musing about Mythic:

Random musing about Mythic:

What if the "slots" on the Threads list were a limited resource? Meaning, what if you had a set limit on the number of Threads you could add to the list? How might this affect your solo gaming using Mythic?

Other variations on the thought: What if the limit was only on the number of unsolved threads? What if it was an absolute limit per adventure?

  1. James Smith  Yeah. For me, like  Zach, I just started thinking of how meandering my games could get when I kept adding threads. I started thinking that perhaps the action of adding a Thread should be more significant as in "I am now making this part of the story Important" with a capital "I".

Mostly, I've just been using them as a sort of quest journal, as you put it.

  2. Alex Yari , well shucks... /kicks_dirt  I am waiting on the last two pieces of art, and February release is looking very feasible. It will be PWYW on DTRPG.

  3. I had a variant where I replaced "new thread" with "escalate thread" from Variations. When I hit that, I'd roll a d6. If I had a thread with a number, it would escalate; if I had no thread with that number, I'd add one. That thread would stay on the list even when resolved, with the only change being that if you rolled it when it was resolved it acted as neutral event instead of escalate thread.

The idea was to try and force an arc, and to limit "plot wandering." Never really had a chance to test it, though.
