Thought experiment:

Thought experiment:
You want to put everything you need to solo rpg in a moleskine notebook (whether by writing it in or taping it in), so that you can grab this book and a pen and play.
What would you put in it? What rule set? What tables? What Oracles? What generators? What whatever?

  1. These are all great, despite all the cheating ;)
Thanks for the thoughts. I have some new things to check out and some other things to think about.

  2. I like this idea a lot. I think it is an interesting constraint for the game I'm designing. I ended up coding a little app today that lets me output print resolution images of dice roll tables, hex grids of any size, along with random hex cell look tables, all at moleskin size (3.5 x 5.5 inches). Moving forward, I'll attempt to design all elements of my game within the small moleskin size constraint, which forces me to keep all the game systems light and simple. I've never really used dice roll lookup tables before, but I gotta say, it's pretty easy. If I want to roll 4 dice, I just plop four fingers down on the spread. It's easier and faster and cleaner than actual dice, and handier in public. Thanks for the inspiration.

  3. Look great Richard Foster! I love the look of those random number tables using pictures of dice. My tables are simply pages of numbers.
