It's been a long time since I've spent any real time here, and I hope everyone's okay. :)
For a client of mine I done a video of a #SoloRPG and they loved it. I'm wondering if people would enjoy watching some solo roleplaying. Not only for tips, tricks, seeing how I do it, but also as an enjoyable distraction.
I'd think I have to watch an episode before I could solidly cast a vote. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be nice to see a video like this.
ReplyDeleteSo what would the video be like? Something akin to your video that you did recently? Or something akin to recording yourself doing a session?
ReplyDeleteAn example of what I mean with the latter: BBG - MHR Solo Game 1 (pt. 1)
I hate videos. I really do. I prefer reading than watching videos, have no time for things like that.
ReplyDeleteAleksandar Battreps don't worry I'll still be doing my written reports.
ReplyDeleteFor the rest I've got to buy the recording software and once I've done that I'll do my first AP.
I tend to agree with Aleksandar Battreps . The amount of information per time is superior in reading to watching videos in many cases.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your one video Kenny Norris , but the amount of information in that whole video could have been compressed to a few paragraphs.
I think the one part where the video of solo roleplaying could help is in the interpretation process. You would have to be really good about voicing your thoughts though, and not staring off in to the distance trying to figure something out.
Zach Best I do agree with you about the text / video discussion. What I also know about is that by reading and listening we retain so much more information than by reading alone.
ReplyDeleteI'm making progress on setting up a video solo RPG session up. It'll not be a picture of me (a la my first video) but rather a screen of everything that's going on in the game.
Kenny Norris , definitely! I know nothing about video session, 'casting, or anything like that, but if you could go back and provide slides/commentary in text form, I bet that would greatly increase the value as well.
ReplyDeleteZach Best I'll give that some thought. The first few videos will be an experiment to see how things work out and I'll be able to go from there.
ReplyDeleteKenny Norris How are the videos coming along?
ReplyDeleteDennis Nolasco, thanks for asking! I've got some of the behind the scenes work completed. I've just got to purchase the software to make the videos.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of doing a live interactive starting the game hangout. This will allow me to show how I start a campaign.
