Working an idea over in my head, thought I'd share it here. What if solo gaming played like watching a Quentin Tarantino movie? Start with how it ends and then use your system's rules and various aids to figure out how it got there. It would also give focus to any inspiration or probability rolls.

Still thinking it over, but it seems like this might help move my non-group gaming in an interesting direction.

  1. That sounds like a good idea.

Personally I don't think I'll like to play a game like that.

That is what's good about solo roleplaying. We get to experiment and try lots of different ways of telling stories.

The only disadvantage is if the oracles, your dice rolls, and the rules keep you from heading in the direction of the end.

  2. That's similar to how Aleksandar Battreps described using Microscope rpg in a different way to simulate travel and even fights (except that you know both the beginning and the end). I'll have to try it out someday and see.

  3. Hmm. It's interesting. You'd know who the enemy is right away, etc, so yeah, possibly more focus.  I actually thought of Memento, which is more linear-- and now that I think about that, you don't necessarily know who the bad guy is. Hmm.
