I'm trying an experiment. Playing a solo game using a dice less rule set called Active Exploits. Though I'm still rolling dice to answer GM questions, and work out the stats for NPC's and obsticles. Its working quite well.

  1. I've considered playing diceless many times, thinking it might speed play.

How does the feel differ for you between solo diceless vs using dice?

  2. Alex Yari  I'm not finding it much faster but I am finding it different. Not being able to rely on the luck of the dice makes you a little more conservative. Active Exploits replaces dice wtih some resource management, if you keep pushing character in areas they arn't trained for, then your character will become exhausted fast.

  3. Ah, Active Exploits! I loved that little game...couldn't make it work for my group. It seems the least likely game for a solo thing. How do you not know the effort required to succeed at tasks? It seems that asking Mythic (or the like) only replaces diceless with a rolling mechanism. Curious how you're doing it!

  4. roryb bracebuckle yes I am rolling to answer GM questions. But that is the only time I roll. when controlling the character I just do it. then I use random generators to work out how hard the task is. For combat I just make the enemy do whatever the most obvious thing for them to do is.

Just now I also had the pc try something I knew would fail because it seemed in character.
