If you never had a lack of real live players, and could get someone to play at the snap of a finger, would you still engage in solo roleplaying? If you would, what does solo RPG'ing give you that the social  version can't?

Greetings all! Meandered my way through the interwebz this afternoon while trying to view a document from a blog. I've been RPGing for about five years now (I know, I got started late) both as GM and Player almost exclusively in a play-by-post format. Because I don't always have a game going, or because I'm being a Patient Person and waiting for someone else to post, and because I live in the town next to the Middle Of Nowhere, I often have resorted to using Mythic GME and similar resources to just game on my own. I'm looking for a Madlibs style game. A journal keeping game of sorts. I've been fascinated with the idea lately. Does anyone know of such a thing, or should I get to hacking?

What if the "slots" on the Threads list were a limited resource? Meaning, what if you had a set limit on the number of Threads you could add to the list? How might this affect your solo gaming using Mythic? 

Other variations on the thought: What if the limit was only on the number of unsolved threads? What if it was an absolute limit per adventure?

This began life in 2013 during NaNoWriMo and continued in 2014's NaGaDemon. But in an honest assessment of my desire to spend my limited free time working on this project, it occurred to me that i was never going to complete it without holding myself accountable to a public of some kind. So, I have been hacking it up and editing it into posts.

Because I'm going from essentially rough draft to blog, I more than welcome comments. Indeed, the comments on the posts are where the really interesting stuff happens.

An experienced soloist may not get much from the posts - but your input might help others. My intended audience is the beginner, the people who send me messages asking how I go about doing it and how they can get started.

Eventually, I may go back, tidy it up and incorporate ideas and clarifications from the comments and offer it as a free download in a single PDF, but that day is not today.

Also, I wasn't really sure what category to post this to: Great Sites! seems self-serving in the worst way but few were less "brag-y" nor did they fit any better.
